Her Light Foundation Kenema City Visits Kamasu Village
On 11th October,2025, Her Light Foundation Kenema City (HLFKC) embarked on a meaningful outreach program in Kamasu Village, where our team engaged with the local community on two crucial issues affecting girls and women: Sexual Harassment and Menstrual Hygiene.
Raising Awareness
During the visit, our team held an interactive session with the villagers, discussing the importance of creating a safe and respectful environment for everyone. We emphasized the need to recognize and prevent sexual harassment, and encouraged the community to report any incidents to the appropriate authorities.
Breaking the Silence
We also focused on Menstrual Hygiene, a topic often shrouded in stigma and silence. Our team provided valuable insights on how to maintain good menstrual health, and distributed sanitary pads and other essential items to the girls and women in attendance.
Empowering the Community
The visit was a huge success, with the community expressing gratitude for our efforts to educate and empower them. We believe that by working together, we can create a society that values and respects the rights and dignity of all individuals, particularly girls and women.
Thank You
Her Light Foundation Kenema City would like to extend its heartfelt thanks to the people of Kamasu Village for their warm hospitality and active participation. We look forward to continuing our work in the community and making a positive impact in the lives of girls and women.
Together, let's shine a light on a brighter future!
16days of Activism
Her Light Foundation – Kenema City
Statement – 16 Days of Activism (25 Nov – 10 Dec 2025)
To Our Community, Partners, and Stakeholders,
As the global 16 Days of Activism Against Gender‑Based Violence unfolds, Her Light Foundation – Kenema City reaffirms its commitment to protecting the dignity and rights of women, girls, and all vulnerable children. During this period, we are focusing our efforts on three intersecting issues that threaten their safety and future:
1. Digital Violence Against Women and Girls
- Raising awareness of cyber‑harassment, non‑consensual sharing of images, and online exploitation.
- Providing digital‑safety training and support hotlines for survivors.
2. Harmful Effects of Drugs – Especially KUSH
- Educating communities on the health, social, and economic impacts of KUSH abuse.
- Offering prevention workshops, counseling, and referral pathways for treatment and rehabilitation.
3. Child Labour
- Identifying and rescuing children engaged in hazardous work.
- Advocating for education and livelihood alternatives for families, while strengthening child‑protection networks.
We call on all stakeholders—local leaders, government agencies, civil society, private sector partners, and well‑wishers—to join us in these actions. Together we can create safer digital spaces, healthier communities free from drug abuse, and a future where every child enjoys their right to education and protection.
Let us unite, act, and end violence in all its forms.
